Product Description
Shea butter, also known as Karite butter or African butter is grown in West Africa. It comes from the fruit of the Karite tree, similar to a plum, which contains a nut. The nut is dried and the kernel inside is removed and ground to a buttery consistency. It is highly moisturizing for a wide variety of skin and hair conditions. It has a slower absorption rate with luxurious, soft, and supple texture, which some may find a bit sticky. It is believed to have
- a SPF of 6 (must be used in a formula with zinc for actual sun protection)
- it has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and skin regenerating properties.
- It's rich in linoleic acid (omega-6)
- beta-carotene
- vitamin E. plant sterol (stigmasterol) that helps reduce joint stiffness (e.g, arthritis)
Other traditional uses of Shea Butter include:
- Skin discolouration
- Reduce signs of wrinkles, scars and stretch marks
- Treating dried or damaged hair
- Relaxation of stiff muscles
- May relieve joint pain from swelling and arthritis
- May produce wonderful results on skin with mild eczema
