Shea butter, also known as karite butter or African butter, is highly moisturizing for a wide variety of skin and hair conditions. It has a slower absorption rate with luxurious, soft, and supple texture, which some may find a bit sticky. It has a SPF of 6 (blocks 30% of UV rays). It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and skin regenerating properties. It's rich in linoleic acid (omega-6), beta-carotene and vitamin E. It also contains a plant sterol (stigmasterol) that helps reduce joint stiffness (e.g, arthritis)
 

Can be used as an emulsifier. It's good for dry, aged, and damaged skin. When applied daily, may soften and lighten age spots. 

May help heal skin (e.g., eczema, psoriasis, stretch marks, wounds), bruises, and relieve soreness due to deep penetration (without rubbing) and increasing local capillary circulation.
